A modest fee will apply for 38 hours of care, and additional discounts will be available for single parents and low-income households. The matter was added to the council’s agenda following comments from minority representatives, who said the proposals had been introduced briefly at a morning meeting and required fuller discussion. Despite those concerns, the measures were adopted with thirteen votes from majority councillors and members of Viðreisn. Other councillors abstained. The updated fee schedule forms part of broader efforts to adjust early childhood services in the capital. Reykjavík City Council oversees the operation and funding framework of municipal preschools, which provide early education and care for young children across the city.
