Jón Þór Víglundsson, information officer for Landsbjörg, confirmed the situation in comments to a news agency. He stated: “About 30 cars are stuck in the area from Pétursey and east to Vík. Among them are quite a few cars at the turnoff down to Reynisfjörður.” Authorities have closed the Ring Road between Markarfljót and Höfn in response to conditions. The closure affects a key transport corridor frequently used by both locals and visitors travelling along the south coast. Drivers are advised to monitor updates and avoid unnecessary travel in affected areas.
