The IMO warns that strong gusts around Mýrdalsjökull, beneath the Eyjafjöll mountains and near western Öræfi could pose a hazard to vehicles sensitive to crosswinds. Assessments by the Icelandic Road Administration have also identified icy patches on some roads where conditions have been evaluated. Most parts of the country can expect light showers or sleet, with intermittent bright spells in western areas. Forecasters project winds will remain predominately easterly in the coming days, easing only after mid-week. Showers of sleet or snow are likely, especially in the southeast, while the southwest and west are expected to remain mostly dry. Travellers and road users are advised to check updated forecasts and road reports before setting out.
