The achievement was celebrated locally when municipalities in Þingeyjarsýsla honoured the owners at the Húsavík Maritime Museum in Húsavík. “We had no idea what we were going to do, we had never run a restaurant before. So this is just great, and it doesn’t get much better,” said owner Haukur Eiðsson. The restaurant’s founders include several fishermen, and they say the quality of the ingredients is central to the dish. According to managing director Unnur Sigurðardóttir, sourcing the fish locally has always been a priority. Because they are just no. Because as Haukur said, there was never anything else to consider than getting the fish from Sólberg. The best fish. The best fish,” she said. The restaurant uses Icelandic cod supplied by Sólberg. Cod is widely regarded as one of Iceland’s most important seafood exports and features prominently in local cuisine. Visitors travelling through the region often combine stops at Lake Mývatn with other northern attractions such as nearby geothermal areas, which are frequently highlighted in guides to North Iceland travel.
