Hazardous conditions persist in the Westfjords, where some roads are impassable and others experiencing heavy traffic. According to the Icelandic Meteorological Office said, a deep depression in the Greenland Strait has caused southwesterly gales or storms, accompanied by dark squalls. A Quick Respite Before the Next Storm The depression is starting to shallow and the wind is decreasing significantly as the day goes on, but gusts can still be expected. Temperatures across the country are hovering between 0°C and 5°C, with icy stretches reported on key routes such as Hellisheiði. Authorities continue to monitor conditions via the Icelandic Road Administration. Forecasters warn that further disruption may follow. Another weather system is expected to intensify later today, bringing strong winds and snowfall, particularly in eastern regions overnight, with more unsettled weather forecast into the start of next week.
