Flights will run during daytime hours, allowing onward connections through Keflavík Airport to destinations in North America. Gdańsk is located on Poland’s northern coast and is known for its long history and established tourism sector. Icelandair stated that the addition reflects its aim to broaden its route network, particularly outside the peak summer season. Commenting on the announcement, Icelandair chief executive Bogi Nils Bogason said the airline is placing increased emphasis on winter operations. “This way, we make much better use of our infrastructure, while offering our customers a wider range of connections all year round. Gdańsk is an interesting city with a rich history and our first destination in Poland.” Icelandair has in recent years sought to strengthen year-round connectivity by adding new European destinations that support its transatlantic network via Iceland.
