It is now easier for Icelanders living in Northern Norway and Norwegians living in Iceland to get to their homelands, in addition to opening up excellent connections between North America and Northern Norway. Residents of Northern Norway will thus have easier access to many of our destinations in North America, and convenient connections will also open up from the west via Iceland to northern Norway,” said Bogi Nils Bogason, CEO of Icelandair, in a press release. Tromsø has grown in popularity among travellers, particularly those seeking northern lights and outdoor experiences. Icelandair stated that the new route is intended to strengthen connections between North America and northern Norway, while also encouraging stopovers in Iceland. The airline operates in partnership with Norwegian carrier Widerøe, offering onward connections to major airports across Norway via Bergen and Tromsø.
