Ownership of the planned Höfði Lodge near Grenivík has changed hands ahead of its anticipated opening this autumn, four years later than first scheduled. As reported by RÚV, the development company Ilidor Sarl has acquired the remaining shares in the hotel project located nearby Þengilhöfði mountain, becoming its sole owner. What's the Story? The hotel, marketed as a five-star property aimed at international guests, has faced delays and rising costs during construction. In a 2021 interview with the news agency, Björgvin said: “One of the most beautiful hotels in the country, if not the most beautiful, is being built here in Grenivík.” By last summer, the project was reported to be two years behind schedule, with Björgvin stating that the development had proved more complex than anticipated and had exceeded its original budget. Following the sale, Björgvin and Jóhann have taken full ownership of Viking Heliskiing and Scanic Guide, businesses they previously co-owned alongside Höfði Lodge. The hotel is currently expected to open later this year.
