A new airline operating under the Nice Air brand plans to begin flights in February, with limited services between Akureyri and Copenhagen. Ticket sales for the initial flights will begin tomorrow.
The announcement was made at a press conference held today at the Akureyri Aviation Museum, where Martin Michael, CEO of the new Nice Air, said the company would prioritise gradual growth and operational stability.
His comments were later reported by RÚV; “We want to grow steadily and have a solid operation. That’s Nice Air 2.0,” he said, acknowledging public scepticism following the collapse of the previous airline.

While Michael has decades of experience in tourism and aviation, he said this specific airline model is new territory for the group.
Operations will differ significantly from the former Nice Air. Rather than branding leased aircraft as its own, the company plans to lease planes from foreign partners to allow greater flexibility in aircraft size and capacity, reducing the risk of underfilled flights.
Two February flights to Copenhagen will be operated in cooperation with Danish charter airline Air Seven. A summer schedule is expected to be announced soon, with the long-term aim of operating twice-weekly year-round services from Akureyri. Introductory ticket prices were set at €400, with the caveat that fares may rise.
Beyond Iceland, the new Nice Air also plans to operate routes within continental Europe, primarily from Germany.
