Reykjavík has a new record in circulation this week as Icelandic composer Bergrún Snæbjörnsdóttir has released her first full-length LP, Skinweeper, marking a milestone in her discography. The album became available digitally on 23 January 2026, with a vinyl edition expected to follow in the coming weeks, according to Smekkleysa Records. What's the Story? According to a press release from the record label, the pieces were conceived around abstract ideas of energy transforming from one state to another, forming a unified sequence across the LP. International performers feature on the album, including percussionists William Winant, Kevin Corcoran and Matthias Engler, cellists Theresa Wong and Marrissa Deitz, English horn player Kyle Bruckmann, clarinettist John McCowen, and harpist Gunnhildur Einarsdóttir. Collaboration with these musicians focused on integrating their individual approaches into the recorded works.
