Snow and Sleet Expected as Winds Strengthen Across Parts of Iceland

Blustery conditions are expected to affect parts of eastern and north-eastern Iceland, while much of the south and west is set to enjoy brighter weather over the coming days. According to the Icelandic Met Office, winds will be variable or easterly today, reaching speeds of between 3 and 10 metres per second, with stronger gusts extending further east later in the day. Elsewhere, conditions are expected to be calmer. Southern and western regions should see largely clear skies, offering a contrast to the breezier weather further north and east. Looking ahead to tomorrow, northeasterly winds of 5 to 10 metres per second are forecast across much of the country. Stronger winds, reaching up to 15 metres per second, are expected in north-western areas and along parts of the south-east coast. Snowfall or sleet is likely to be widespread, although cloud cover should remain light in the south and west. Temperatures are expected to dip slightly, bringing mild frost frost inland, while coastal areas are likely to stay largely frost-free during daylight hours.
