A deep low-pressure system moving towards Iceland from the southwest is expected to bring strong winds and precipitation to parts of the country later today and overnight. According to forecasts from the Icelandic Meteorological Office, yellow weather warnings have been issued for South Iceland and the Faxaflói Bay area between 00:00 – 03:00 tomorrow. What's the Story? Earlier in the day, conditions in the south and west are expected to remain windy but less severe, with southerly winds generally below 10 metres per second. Visibility may still be reduced in passing showers. Clearer weather is forecast for the northeast of the country. Daytime temperatures across Iceland are expected to remain around freezing, while eastern and northeastern regions may see frost between 0°C and -5°C. By tomorrow, the low-pressure system is forecast to move west of the country, bringing gusty southerly winds and precipitation across most regions. Rain, sleet or snow may occur depending on local conditions. Forecasts suggest winds will turn southwesterly on Saturday, with gusty conditions continuing before easing later in the evening.
